Honestly, there were so much hype about his book. I would never have pick this one up if it wasn't in my list. Surprisingly, this was very much as engaging as all the books that I've read from Rainbow. It is so raw to the core when each of the characters were being built with the ugly reality side of life. Moreover, the more you read the more you felt that you were being part of their family. A real-life depiction of how family is journeying with a serious case of a depression patient.
 
This book is separated into 2 parts. It's more like 2 semesters in college years.

1st Half
An introduction of who Cath/Cather Avery is, and how she has this social awkwardness where college is a major change in her so-called perfect life. Although one suffers from this paranoia of social awkwardness (Sophisticated-Ly speaking, She's An Introvert...pffft), one does know how to make stupid decisions too. The first half has concluded that there is nothing wrong with making friends at all but it is always a big NO-NO in mixing with the wrong ones.

2nd Half
Here's where the deeps stuff comes in. We have already established that Cath and Wren are twins and they can never be apart. However, the reality of life does not show us life is a bed of roses. It is so poignant that siblings arguments are real and by patching things up needs a lot of self-shedding of our own pride.

Shock factor, I just knew that the book "Carry On" has just been released a week ago. Now I'm anticipating to read about the love story between Simon Snow and Tyrannus Basilton "Baz".

This quote had me all teared up! Since the book "Carry On" has been released, would Rainbow release anything on the ten thousand word Fiction by Cather Avery titled "Left"?

Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell

I've chose to read this book right after I've read "Attachments" which I thought it was really good. Without further rambling, I would like to say that back in my school days, I never knew how to love someone like how Park does for Eleanor. And after reading this, I felt that there is a lot to take in with a lot of social ills that Ms Rainbow has brought on to her reader's attention.

Bullying
Eleanor has been a major target for being bullied in school. It's really heartbreaking enough to know Eleanor has just been through a traumatic state of moving to a new town and has to go through such an event of turmoil isn't helping her to develop for the better.

Abuse
Be it verbal, physical or sexual... this book has it all. We can witness how Eleanor's stepfather plays a dominant role on being the abuser at home which builds up the awareness of why Eleanor has become the way she is.

Racism
Although Park is half Korean half Irish boy, and Eleanor is a Red-Hair girl. Racial slurs were pretty bad for Eleanor where names were being slandered upon wherever she is around those people. Such daily abuse are not part of what school life is about and no one should ever go through such a state of impact everyday.

What stands strong in this book is their love for each other. Trust for each other. Whom we all know that love conquers but when circumstances kicks in, sacrifices are needed for the greater good. 

Such a good book. I think love plays a part in this but I think awareness on social ills has been pronounced enough to make people think. I thank Ms Rainbow for writing such a fantastic light-hearted book for everyone.

Booksplosion Read-Along for the month - May - #4

One might ask:

"Why are you reading a Chick-Lit? why? Why? WHY?"
"I have no idea... I'm just giving this a go with an open-mind. And I heard it's Contemporary, not just a Chick-Lit...genre...kinda book". I can honestly say that I was in a state of denial because I do know that it is a Contemporary Romance cum Women's fiction when I was answering it. At least it's worth a shot! ~~Yes, please, very much so, thanks for asking, thank you please very much please...~~ **Quoting Miranda from BBC**

It was so much fun reading back and forth 3 characters on alternate chapters. Usually Jennifer and Beth for a chapter, the next is always revolving Lincoln's. (At least, there's a dude in it. Thank God. If not, this wouldn't be a Romance material. Right?)

So, here I am reading the book with no clue at all about the plot and it started out with an email conversation between 2 colleagues. I guess I'll keep on reading until it gets to you...

Still, I was puzzled and was subtly drawn into their everyday working life on how one is bored with the job, never happy with company's policy, a past that no one wants to talk about. You can very well connect with these characters instantly. Writing style isn't at all intimidating, I must say. Am really enjoying how the flow goes. There are 3 main characters here in the book:

1) Jennifer
2) Beth
3) Lincoln

I like how this book centered around Lincoln's point-of-view a lot. Which is really somewhat different from most of the romance story. I know the subtlety plot between Jennifer and Beth through their email conversations, however I can't help myself by knowing that Lincoln here has taken the lead role.

And since I knew it has romance element in it, I was actually scouting for scenes such as this:

But NO, it didn't happen at all. And what I really like about the book is that it isn't cheesy at all, the jokes are really spot on!!! And every move before an individual has made, was very well thought off without causing me to cringe AT ALL. 

There were moments where you can literally laughed off when one of the character feels this in a joking way:-

But when it comes to reality, they couldn't help themselves from pretending to be normal when they were faced with it.

I was literally rolling on the floor laughing when you realized that Lincoln job has to read through their flagged emails (due to company's policy), I thought when the truth is out both Jennifer and Beth would go

And still, it doesn't go that way... There were moments of gossips where McG appears, Pina Coladas too... The punch line was so SPOT ON!!!

 

And the journey of wittiness was so much fun...

You need to read how it ends... I'm not going to spoil it for you. At some point, I kinda find it a little bit of a rush, maybe it's due to the development of  the characters, content and plots. However, you will definitely like how well the ending was written because it's really worth it. Thank you Ms.Rowell!
